Family Admin Features
1 Website Customization
The Family Admin can customize the look of the family's Famcling website to give it a unique identity. Famcling provides different themes and templates, allowing the Family Admin to choose an appearance that best represents the family and apply it to the family domain.
2 Manage Website Pages and Content
The Family Admin can manage the website's menus and page content. They can update the Home page and create and manage additional menu pages to present information that is important to the family. These pages can be used to share the family's history, traditions, background, memories, and other information the family would like to preserve and share.
This allows each family to shape its Famcling website around its own story, while keeping its history and other important information organized and easy to explore.
3 Manage Member Profiles
The Family Admin can create, update, and manage Member Profiles for members across the family domain. They can maintain information associated with a member, including basic details, about information, education and work experience, living timeline, life events, family information, and other relevant details.
The Family Admin can also review profiles created or updated by Branch Managers and take necessary action when information needs to be corrected, updated, restricted, or removed. This provides an additional level of oversight and helps maintain the quality and reliability of the information across the family website.
As the overall administrator of the family domain, the Family Admin can manage profiles across all branches. They can also control the visibility of member information, taking into consideration the member's consent and privacy, so that personal information is shared only as appropriate.
4 Branch Manager Management
The Family Admin can create and manage Branch Managers who are responsible for maintaining different branches of the family. To assign a Branch Manager, the Family Admin can go to the Family Tree, select the appropriate member, and assign the Branch Manager to that member. The selected member becomes the starting point of the branch they manage. The Branch Manager can then manage the family members and relationships within that branch, including children, grandchildren, and subsequent generations. This allows each Branch Manager to take responsibility for building and maintaining the branch that grows from that member.
The Family Admin can view the list of Branch Managers, their details, and their assigned branch and subfamily. They can also update Branch Manager Information and manage their access when necessary. The status and activity of Branch Managers can be monitored from the Branch Manager Management page.
5 Branch Management
The Family Admin can create and manage the branches of the family based on how the family is traditionally known and organized. They can maintain the list of branches and provide the relevant details for each branch.
The Family Admin can also select the branch head from the Family Tree. The selected member becomes the starting point of that branch and helps establish its connection with the larger Family Tree.
Each branch can have its own dedicated subdomain and profile, allowing it to maintain its identity within the larger family website. The Family Admin or assigned Branch Manager can manage the branch profile and update its information, along with managing the branch's Home, News, Events, and Articles pages. These dedicated pages allow each branch to share and preserve information specific to its own family and history.
This allows the Family Admin to keep the family's branches organized while giving each branch the flexibility to maintain and share its own story as part of the larger family.
6 Family Tree Management
Famcling provides the Family Admin with tools to build, update, and maintain the Family Tree in a structured and visual way. The Family Admin can add family members and record the relationships that connect them across generations, gradually building the family's tree as more information becomes available.
By selecting a member in the Family Tree, the Family Admin can access the available options to add or update their family relationships, such as parents, children, spouses, and siblings. Famcling intelligently displays the relevant options based on the relationships already recorded for that member, helping maintain a consistent and accurate family structure.
Famcling also provides options to edit member information, move members, and correct relationships when changes or corrections are needed. These capabilities allow the Family Admin to continuously update the Family Tree and keep the family's relationships accurately represented as the tree grows.
7 Manage Articles
Famcling allows the Family Admin to manage articles published across the family website, including articles under the main family domain and the dedicated subdomains of individual branches. The Family Admin can create new articles, edit existing content, and manage the details associated with each article.
Articles can cover a wide range of subjects, including family history, stories, experiences, people, places, memorable events, knowledge, opinions, and other topics that family members may wish to share. The Family Admin can organize articles using appropriate categories, making the content easier to browse and discover.
The Family Admin can also manage the visibility of articles, choosing whether an article should be publicly available or restricted to the family. For branch-specific articles, the assigned Branch Manager can manage the articles belonging to that branch, while the Family Admin can manage them as part of the overall family website administration.
8 Manage News
Famcling allows the Family Admin to create, manage, and maintain news across the family website. News can be published under the main family domain as well as under individual branch or subfamily domains, helping keep family members and the wider community informed about current updates and developments.
The Family Admin can create new news items, edit existing ones, and update their content and associated information when required. News can be used for family announcements, activities, achievements, events, and other timely updates that the family wishes to share.
For branch-specific news, the assigned Branch Manager can manage news for their branch, while the Family Admin can manage news across the overall family website. The visibility of news can also be managed according to whether it is intended to be shared publicly or only with family members.
9 Manage Events
Famcling allows the Family Admin to create, manage, and maintain events across the family website. Events can be published under the main family domain as well as under individual branch or subfamily domains, allowing each part of the family to manage events relevant to them.
The Family Admin can create new events, select the appropriate event category and template, add the relevant event information, and edit existing events when changes are required. This supports different types of occasions such as birthdays, weddings, engagements, housewarmings, reunions, festivals, community activities, charity events, sports events, and other occasions that are meaningful to the family.
For branch-specific events, the assigned Branch Manager can manage events for their branch, while the Family Admin can manage events across the overall family website. The visibility of each event can also be managed, allowing the family to decide whether it should be shared publicly or kept within the family.
10 Manage Photo Gallery
Famcling allows the Family Admin to create, manage, and maintain photo albums and photographs across the family website. The Photo Gallery can be managed for the main family domain as well as for individual branch or subfamily domains.
The Family Admin can create albums and organize photographs based on occasions, people, places, periods, or other themes that are meaningful to the family. They can add photographs to albums, update album and photograph information, and manage existing albums and photographs when changes are required.
For branch-specific galleries, the assigned Branch Manager can manage the albums and photographs belonging to their branch, while the Family Admin can manage the gallery across the overall family website. The visibility of albums and photographs can also be managed, allowing the family to decide whether they should be publicly available or restricted to family members.
11 Privacy & Visibility
Famcling gives the Family Admin overall control of the information published within the family domain. The Family Admin can manage the visibility of family information and content, helping the family decide what should be shared publicly and what should remain accessible only to family members.
As the overall administrator of the family domain, the Family Admin has access to the information managed by Branch Managers. They can review, update, or remove information contributed by Branch Managers, including Family Tree members and relationships, articles, news, events, photographs, and other family content.
The Family Admin also acts as a gatekeeper for the family website, helping ensure that the information shared through the domain is appropriate and does not contain sensitive or unsuitable content. This overall oversight helps protect the family's privacy while maintaining the quality and integrity of the information preserved on Famcling.
